When I decided to go to the doctor, I was all nervous as to what to bring, if I needed anything at all. I ended up writing the doctor an email before hand asking that very thing. If I had any previous medical information to give him, then absolutely bring that in, but not necessary. Well that was a relief factor of massive proportions, but still nervous about going. Will I qualify enough to get my medical card? What will this be like? I got in my head a tremendous amount about all the unknowns.
The morning of my appointment, I gather the office address and print it out, as well as set GPS route on my cell phone. Leave early and arrive 20 minutes prior to my appointment. I’m always early, so no big deal. Go to the office door and its locked. Well no time’s posted, no anything, I walk outside and figure alright, I’ll just wait until its actually time for my appointment, then I’ll start to worry.
Three minutes before my appointment, I am standing out front of the building when this doctor dressed in black scrubs comes walking up to the door saying “oh you must be Tim, I’m sorry had to borrow my buddy’s truck today”. I’m like, no worries at least you are here.
He opens up the office and let’s me in, offers me coffee or water. I was too nervous to deal with any of that, so I said no thank you, and few minutes later we got started. He asked me to go into the secluded conference room, and sat down with me and just talked. He asked me what my thoughts were, he asked me about my insomnia and my anxiety and we discussed ptsd in different forms and then he went into explaining different angles of marijuana.
What CBD is and how it helps, and then went into THC and how it helps. Then we went over the different intake methods and effects. We went over how different ratios between the 2 can cause different effects. We discussed how everything is limited to so much per couple months. How often I would have to come back, and about signing up and renewing with the state was a separate cost, but that was for the year.
Then it turned into really registering and filling out the online form for the state and paperwork for his office. Once I paid his office and paid online, it was a waiting game. The doctor said that once I receive the email from the state, then I can use that to go to the dispensary or the patient ID number in the email if I wanted to order online or do a delivery. Up to 2 weeks, is a long time. Because it turns into checking constantly throughout the day, everyday for 2 weeks. I got lucky and it was 10 days until I got my email.
I truly think the heavens opened up and I swear I heard angels singing and harps playing. Because finally I have a 100% legal method to get what I have known that I needed for a long time. But it was more than that. It was the fact that now I had options to explore. I was so curious of what to try, especially since I never tried a ratio before. Never tried medical grade marijuana before, except if you count the guy on the street telling you that his new bag of fire is medical grade. It was time to start my journey of discovery.
