Understanding Sativa vs. Indica vs. Hybrid

So really having smoked for a large part of my life, I am fully aware that there are differences between Sativa and Indica cannabis plants. I knew that there was Hybrids that generally were dominant one way or the other. But in my experience so far I have only ever had the option to have what the dealer gave me, or what a friend let my try. I never really had the ability to choose what I wanted before. What type should I be looking for?

Sativa vs. Indica

Sativa

Plant & Leaves & Buds:
Sativa plants are generally tall and have long thin leaves. The buds of a Sativa plant will be not as dense and even be feathery in texture.

Effects and Feeling:
Sativa will produce a cerebral enhancement feeling that can be uplifting and euphoric.

Daytime Use

Indica

Plant & Leaves & Buds:
Indica plants are usually short in size and have wide shaped leaves. The buds of an Indica plant will always be very dense.

Effects and feeling:
Indica strains will have a relaxing effect and usually more of a body sensation or body high.

Night-time Use

Hybrid Strains

Hybrid strains are cross-breads of both Indica and Sativa cannabis plants.  You may have a hybrid that leans towards more of a sativa effect and you feel it in your head.  You may also have a hybrid with an indica effect that has more of a relaxing feeling in the body and may make you tired.  You can also have a hybrid that rides the fine line of even split of dominance.

Other Factors

Plant genetics does play its part in effects, but it is not the only contributing factor.  A product with 15% THC and 10% CBD can give you different effects being either sativa dominant or indica dominant.  Products grown indoors under artificial light can effect you differently than products grown outside in natural sunlight.  Various cannabinoid content and terpene profiles and growth techniques all play their role in the effects, not to mention your personal body chemistry and how you are made up genetically.
