Now that I understood a little better about the differences between Sativa and Indica and what Hybrids are and how they can affect me. That changes things. Surterra didn’t have any specific strains, so I decided it was time to go elsewhere and try things out.
Browsing online, the closest dispensary that I could find near me was Trulieve. Looking at their various products on their website I realized this dispensary really focuses on strains and types. This opened a whole new set of doors to go through and see what changes. Of course it is almost guaranteed that it will be different, but what exactly is the difference?
I like to be prepared, I like to try and stay ahead of things, so I placed my order online, but when I went to checkout, I realized that they charged $25 for delivery. Granted, in my past I know for a fact I have been over-charged because someone had to bring it to me. But I felt that the dispensary was close enough to venture out and really take in the experience of going to the dispensary. I was curious anyways what it was like, so I chose In-Store Pickup and the next day I was going to go drive out there to get my order.
I woke up nervous, because I knew I was going somewhere new today. I was going to a place with a lot of unknowns. What will it be like? Will it be easy or complicated? I already placed my order online, so in theory that should make things a bit easier. I stayed in my head all morning about it, knowing very well I wouldn’t be able to answer these questions till I actually went to the dispensary.
I knew I didn’t want to go as soon as they opened. That to me would be the opening rush time of things. I waited till a little after noon, and then I gathered up my nerves and made sure I had my medical ID with me, and put the address in my phone’s GPS and headed to the Trulieve in Dania.
Luckily this dispensaries location is just a bit further east than my niece’s dance studio, so I knew generally the area and what was around. I arrived and immediately noticed a problem. Lack of parking truly didn’t help my anxiety. I decided to park across the street at the grocery store and walk over to the dispensary.
I walk up to the front of the dispensary, and take a deep breath, open the doors. I immediately see a jam packed waiting room filled with people sitting in every seat except 2 and a receptionist counter at the front of the room and a armed security guard standing by the door My anxiety immediately shot up. So ironic the idea that you are going to get medicine to relieve anxiety and the very process to get it is more intense than the day to day anxiety I have to deal with on a regular basis. Hopefully over time this whole process will get better and easier. Maybe I’ll figure out a time that is better to come. I can deal with this, it is just a process I have to go through, and its a means to an end. I am here, let’s do this.
So I walk up to the front receptionist counter and tell them it is my first time at a dispensary. They were friendly and explained to me how I just need to hand them my ID card so they can check me in, and verify things, and since I already placed my order online, they will have it ready for me in the back. So I just needed to wait for my name to be called, and then I can go in the back and pay and get my order. Okay then, that isn’t so bad. I just have to sit among people in a crowded room for a while and zone out till I hear my name being called.
After about 35 minutes or so my name was finally called and I hopped right up and walked over towards the guy at the door offering my ID back to me. I grabbed my ID and walked through the door, to see more or less what I had imagined.
I saw a long counter with multiple people behind it. Each was taking care of another customer and pointing out various products in the glass counter, and then grabbing the product for the customers from the cabinets behind them. Since I ordered online I needed to head to the register by itself all the way at the end of the room. Simple enough, not so bad at all.
I go to the register I was told, and the lady verified my order with me, and then told me that I can take advantage of their 1st time customer discount. That was awesome because I missed out on that chance with Surterra. I heard about that after my first order, so this was a huge plus that put a smile on my face. I paid for my order and then was given my bag and I left the dispensary.
I walked back across the street to my car. On the way back to my car I realized I wasn’t the only one that decided to park across the street at the grocery store. Ended up sitting in my car for a couple minutes just to collect myself from being in such an intense environment for so long. It was a relief to sit in my own car, my own environment I can control for a few minutes and relax. I opened up my bag to look at my new products.
I was excited to test out these new products. What would it be like. I got a mini vape device and 2 different vape cartridges. I was still vaping, would it be similar or way different? This was THC only, no CBD at all. How will this effect me? I sure hope I chose the right direction at least. But on the plus side, I did get this try of things at a discounted rate. I will see when I get home how this really goes. Here’s to hoping for the best.
